I’ve been a little social butterfly the last couple of weeks which you would think would give me a lot to write about but really it gave me less time to put into this (which is ok!). It was two of my besties’ bday weekends so I’m capital T Tired today but also am having the best time generally. I love summer, I love my life, I love my friends; what’s new!
What’s the best thing you’ve worn?
I’ve kind of been on a roll with ‘fits lately so here are two from the last couple of weeks that scored me many compliments from friends:
Both featuring vintage items gifted to me by our friend Madi when Leyna and I visited Pinecrest last fall <3
What have you been listening to?
This has been a stellar summer in terms of musicians I love releasing new music. This week it was the band TOPS, who I started listening to a few years ago and immediately became obsessed. Their new album, Bury The Key, is no exception. I feel like it’s hard for current bands to be unique, given that there’s a shit ton of stuff that’s already been made, but they’re a group that feels pretty distinctive and quirky to me.
What have you been working on?
As you might have already seen in our most recent Who’st Questionairre, I’ve been working on the grainy monochrome halftone(ish) image that went in our summer graphic. Shockingly hard to find an image that fits the bill! Photoshop is not my most proficient app in the Adobe CC suite, but making these has been a fun way of shifting that.
Including the above photo, I also got a bunch of film back from my trip to MI, where I used five whole rolls up taking pics of things I love. I’ll give y’all a few exclusive pics that I did not put in my instagram dump 🫨
What’s your hyperfixation?
I’m enamored by this new game Outlier, designed by Madeleine Voge who’s substack (and recently, her TikTok) I’ve been loving. It's like Connections but cuter so therefore wayyyy better!!
What have you been watching?
I’ve been watching the new season of The Bear (soundtrack always goes hard), and yes I did see Weapons and yes I did love it. Also in-turn watched Barbarian which I liked less than Weapons but still enjoyed (“enjoyed” might not be the right word but… you get it). I always think it’s cool when you can tell two movies were made by the same director but there isn’t an obvious reason why.
What’s been inspiring you?
What are you reading?
Currently its The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which I’ve been doing a dual audio and physical read of—kind of the perfect book to use this method for the first time. I have mixed feelings about it so far and I’m not sure how to put it into words yet, but overall I love the cozy, academic feel. Goodwill Hunting esque, you know. Also I was reading a reddit thread about whether there’d be a movie adaptation, and someone asked what director would do it justice, and someone else said David Lynch :( Despite that making me sad, imagining this book with a weird Twin Peaks vibe totally shifted it for me. Instead of apprehensively appreciating it now i’m loving it two-fold.
Sleeper hit of the week?
This dream I had? Lmao.
But also: karaoke.
Have you made any fun/exciting purchases?
I finally got my hands on one of these fuckers (Sonny Angel that sticks to your computer monitor). HEHEHEHE.
Alright that’s all from me this week, sorry for cursing multiple times! Also don’t forget to read the Who’st Questionnaire featuring our friend Tori!!! Love ya!
