Writing this on Sunday morning so if anything crazy happens today, just know This Leyna didn’t know about it.
What’s up?
Not shit! This isn’t a standard Weekly Log question, but I really felt the need to express this sentiment publicly. God, these February Doldrums do not give you a lot to write home about (unless you want me to wax poetic about the color of the slop where the street meets the curb…).
What’s been inspiring you?
What have you been listening to?
I’ve listened to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust probably five times since we last spoke, which maybe isn’t a lot to some, but I rarely revisit an album in full in this quick of succession. Don’t get me wrong, I love that album immensely, but I can’t quite place what’s hitting so hard! Historically, I guess I listen to a lot of Bowie in February so it shouldn’t be too surprising, but I’m still scratching my head about it. Perhaps I need to listen to it again!
In addition to Mr. Stardust, I’ve also been listening to a lot of Vaporwave while working—which has been a welcome change of pace from the Tetris theme song…
Have you seen anything good on TV or at the movies lately?
Wealthy Theatre, my beloved, threw me the biggest W in history last week when they played A Knight’s Tale. IYKYKBIYDITY (if you know, you know, but if you don’t, I’ll tell you): that was the movie that birthed my crush on Heath Ledger at the ripe age of 9, which has been one of life’s greatest pleasures. Seeing it on the big screen made my heart feel ticklish (and made me scream like David After Dentist).
What’s your favorite thing you’ve worn?
Two of my friends had a celestial-themed, joint birthday party (one friend represented the sun, one was the moon), which gave me the opportunity to bust out my sequined duster jacket (only previously worn at Beehive NYE 2020). Wearing this with a little slip, some tights, and a starry crown headband made me remember that life is worth living!!!

Any Existential Crises lately?
Just the one where you start waking up earlier, prioritizing moving your body, and making sure you get proper nutrients. By this I, of course, mean that it feels great and nobody has been lying and that it improves your life and for that I want to m*rder everyone with my bare hands (and new, brute strength from weightlifting). You know, just one of the classics!
Sleeper Hit of the Week?
Giving this one to Dio, my friend Hank’s dog. Tara, if you’re reading this, it could’ve just as easily been Cowboy, but unfortunately I got to meet Dio in the flesh while Cowboy exists purely as a dream in my heart (and an image on my phone). I may or may not have screamed out “I’m going to Lenny him!!!!!” 40+ times over the course of the few hours I spent with him, but how could I not?!?! Look at him!!!!
Bye now!
